Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
